Project Development Programs are available through MARCH BREAK and periodically through the year as part of Actors’ Intensive Programs.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

This is a two pronged training program that consists of a physical training program for actors and the development of an original theatre work that culminates in a performance.

The physical training focuses on training the actor’s instrument to stay open under the emotional demands of the actor’s world. Alignment, breathing and relaxation techniques are taught through a series of exercises designed to prepare the performer for work onstage.

Concurrently a theatre performance pieces is developed by the “ensemble”. Ensemble style theatre involves total participation of all actors at all times. Through the collaborative development of movement, sound score, and text, a theatre piece is collectively developed and performed, reflecting the unique dynamic of that particular group. With minimal use of set and props, the actor is involved and must remain inter-connected to the group at all times. In this manner of work, the role of the actor is pushed into that of performance artist. The result is startlingly evocative and beautiful theatre that will challenge and captivate.
